Shockwave Therapy

Accelerate Healing With Shockwave Therapy

A shockwave is an intense, but very short energy wave travelling faster than the speed of sound. This shockwave is generated when compressed air (or an electromagnetic field) is used to fire a projectile within a guiding tube that strikes a metal applicator placed on the patient’s skin and the energy impulse is transmitted to the tissue. The projectile generates stress waves in the applicator that transmit acoustic pressure waves (radial shock waves) that propagate non-invasively into tissue, with no side effects. These pulses create micro-cavitation bubbles that expand and burst, and the force created by these bubbles penetrates tissue and stimulates cells in the body that are responsible for bone and connective tissue healing. This basic technology involved with extracorporeal shockwave technology was developed by surgeons and has been used for decades on millions of people.

Shockwave treatments have been used to treat various diseases of the musculoskeletal system and other soft tissue disorders, promoting accelerated recovery through encouragement of self-healing processes. Several studies have addressed the molecular and cellular mechanisms of rESWT on various conditions including the mediation of cell apoptosis, enhanced angiogenesis and wound healing as well as new bone formation.

Therapy sessions are usually short, usually 20 - 30 minutes in length, and provide successful relief of chronic pain and restore mobility with little to no pain. Permanent relief typically begins 72 hours following treatment.

75%-95% Success Rate

Some Conditions That Can Be Treated By Shockwave Therapy Include:
• Plantar Fasciitis • Achilles Tendinopathy • Scar Tissue Treatment • Tennis Elbow
• Jumpers Knee • Calcific Rotator Cuff Tendinitis • Stress Fractures • Non Healing Ulcers
